Scanning Modes

You can restrict who the HUD cycles through by changing the radar mode via the Gear menu. This is incredibly useful in crowded regions.

  1. Region (📡): The default mode. Scans and allows you to spectate any avatar in the entire current simulator.
  2. Parcel: Restricts the scan list to only avatars standing on the exact same parcel of land as you.
  3. Custom Distance: Restricts the scan list to avatars within a specific meter radius (e.g., only people within 20m of your location).

HUD Interface & Menu Controls

The HUD features a sleek, physical mesh interface. Here is what every button does:

Primary Controls

  • Left / Right Arrows (◀ ▶): Cycle your camera to the previous or next avatar.
  • Lens (Center): Runs a Deep Scan on the avatar you are tracking, dumping their account/performance dossier into local chat.
  • Shirt Icon: Runs an Outfit Scan to identify worn mesh and generate Marketplace links.
  • Gear (⚙): Opens the Main Menu dialog to access advanced settings, manual cam resets, and target profile links.

Secondary Toggles

  • Zoom (+/-): Quickly toggles your camera zoom distance in and out without needing to open the menu.
  • Refresh (Arrows): Stops tracking entirely, resets the camera back to your own avatar, and clears the target.
  • Cross (X): Instantly detaches the HUD to your inventory.
  • Info (i): Prints a quick-reference guide of these controls in local chat.

Settings & Options Menu

Advanced Configuration

Click the Gear Icon on the HUD to access the Command Center dialog menu. From there, you can access Target Profiles, Nudge your camera view, or click ⚙ Advanced for these options:

Set Dist & Custom Cam

Define max range for custom distance radar. Custom Cam lets you input precise <X, Y, Z> vectors or save your active manual nudges as a permanent preset.

Verbose & Hover Txt

Verbose toggles the HUD's chat notifications on/off. Hover Txt displays the name of your current target floating directly above the HUD on your screen.

Display Names & Scan Me

Toggle between showing SL Usernames vs Display Names in the UI. Scan Me allows you to include your own avatar in the cycle list.

Live Dist

When Hover Text is enabled, this adds a real-time updating distance readout (e.g., [45m]) under the target's name.

Troubleshooting

"No Avatars Found": If the HUD says this but people are around, check your Radar Mode in Settings. If you are set to "Parcel" but standing on a tiny slice of land by yourself, it won't see anyone. Change it back to "Region".

Missing Group Name in Deep Scan: The HUD uses worn attachments to find group data. If the scan says "None / No Attachments", it means the avatar is wearing strictly system layers/Bakes on Mesh and has zero physical attachments for the scanner to pull the data from.

Camera is Stuck: If you use the viewer's built-in camera controls or Alt-Cam (Option-Cam on Mac) while spectating someone, your camera may lock up. Simply hit the ESC key until it resets your viewer's focus.
